This type of problem, though rare can give you serious side effects like not being able to tolerate solid foods and in some cases even liquids.  The correction for this type of prolapse is a repositioning of the lapband device.

An even more rare complication is erosion where the natural body reaction is the elimination or the Lap Band implant.  All erosions require surgery for replacement of the band.  Though not considered an emergency, it's not something that should be put off.

There seems to be few long term complications of gastric bypass surgery in general and lapband procedure specifically.  While there are a few physical complications, the emotional aspects of weight-loss and gastric bypass surgery should not be minimized.

All is Not Great Even with Lap Band Surgery Without Complications

The basic benefit of bariatric surgery is that you have a feeling of fullness after eating small amounts of food.  Although appearing to be a great idea for someone who hasn't had the surgery, the reality is that while you may be full you are never really satisfied.
